A new way to visualise and experience live data.
Cusp Art Studio projects connect individuals to the meaning behind data in new ways. Connect people to the natural environment with creative visualisations illustrating the meaning behind the data stream. Or maybe you want to track your company’s sustainability measures and give consumers full transparency. Whatever the reason, we can use IoT sensor data, APIs, user data or any live data stream to tell your story.
We’re fostering imagination, creating new perspectives, curiosity and the discipline of consideration through data transparency. The vision is to bring about innovative ways for the public to interact with data, connecting them directly to the causes and meaning behind it.

Banks Peninsula Weather Data
This project is being created to accompany an upcoming music and animated video release. The video on the left shows the visualisation as the live data reaches sunset.
A live weather data API controls the animations.
At sunset each day, the hero music video appears and is played as an “easter egg”.
Animation controls:
Wave movement height: controlled by live wave height in Banks Peninsula.
Birds rate of movement: controlled by live wind speed data in Banks Peninsula.
Birds placement on-screen: controlled by live wind direction in Banks Peninsula.
Cloud transparency: controlled by live % cloud coverage in Banks Peninsula.
Colour: controlled by the time of day in Banks Peninsula.
We’ve deliberately chosen an obvious example as our first project, to easily communicate the possibilities. Our next projects will be more abstract to show the full potential of what’s possible here.
